MB WEEKLY – CARTOON:
“With all the incredible, inspiring restaurants in Manhattan Beach, I don’t cook much, so I replaced it with a void to scream into.”
MB – BULLETIN BOARD:
1. ** As a former Manhattan Beach Mayor, I was reluctant to file an appeal of the Planning Commission’s approval of a behemoth, four-story, 79-unit luxury apartment building at Highland Avenue, and Rosecrans Avenue, that we all know is so out of character with our low profile. I firmly believe that “if you love your community, then you will do something.” That is why I filed my appeal. —- Mark Burton, Manhattan Beach
2. ** The Pokemon Company is looking for an archivist to build an internal archive and museum. The gig pays $77k-$118k, but more importantly, you’ll get to put “Pokemon historian” on your LinkedIn profile. —- Angela Z., Manhattan Beach
3. ** Like pretty much everyone except the White House press secretary, I’m aware that inflation is a huge problem affecting countless Americans. —- Nancy P., Manhattan Beach
4. ** MB WEEKLY READER QUESTION? Do you trust the reviews you read on Amazon? Please send your reply to: MBWeekly@TimeWire.net
5. ** Honest to God, who gives a s—t, about the surprise wedding of Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck at A Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas over the weekend? Not me. —- John A., Manhattan Beach
6. ** Item #11 on last week’s Manhattan Beach Unified School District Board meeting agenda seemed innocuous enough, approving a contract with Vincent Pompei, Ed. D for professional teacher development. But, who is Vincent Pompei? He’s an LGBTQ+ author with National Professional Resources, a company publishing quick-reference guides for educators since 1968. Has the district finally stepped off the education platform into a very dark and destructive journey of indoctrination? —- Fred Taylor, Manhattan Beach
7. ** $17.00 for a Turkey burger at the Kettle. WTF! —- Kayleigh B., Manhattan Beach
8. ** Georgia will pay head football coach Kirby Smart $10.25 million in the first year of a new deal that runs through the 2031 season. That makes him the highest-paid college football coach at a public university. I can’t imagine why college tuitions are so high? —- Pete B., Manhattan Beach
9. ** May I politely suggest three (3) golden rules for restoring sanity to our bizarre, distraught world. (1) NEVER apologize for freedom and American Greatness. (2) NEVER compromise with the radical Left. (3) NEVER sell out our America First principles to The Swamp. —- Dr. Matt B., Manhattan Beach
10. ** ‘This Is A Disgrace’: Megyn Kelly Blasts UPenn For Nominating Lia Thomas As NCAA ‘Woman Of The Year.’ —- Phillip C., Manhattan Beach
11. ** Most young people today are generally weak and lazy, and it’s the fault of their indulgent parents who desire to be their children’s friends, not their authority figures. My life with entrepreneurship began early. It started with one paper route that turned into three paper routes. Then, it was mowing every lawn on my hill during the summers. In the winter, it was shoveling snow in every driveway. I also didn’t have to listen to the idiotic indoctrination of socialism during high school and college. Did this help form me and my later fortune? Of course. Stop babying your children. You are hurting them terribly. —- David Z., Manhattan Beach
12. ** You have to live in Manhattan Beach to say anything meaningful about it. —- Carla P., Manhattan Beach
13. ** New scary scam. Very scary. Yesterday I received a call from a person named Mohammed. That name came up on my screen. I assumed it was associated with the work I was doing, and I answered the call. There was no voice – just silence. And when I went to click to disconnect the call, my phone started to vibrate. Almost like it does when you get an amber alert. Consistent buzzing. My phone look like something had taken it over. Like it was being copied. I have never heard of such a thing nor have I experienced such a thing and in a single second I felt like i was in a horror movie. —- Laurie McDermott
14. ** If traveling outside of Manhattan Beach has taught me nothing more, it certainly has this – you never know when some trifling incident, utterly without significance, may pitchfork you into adventure or by the same token may not. —- Cynthia P., Manhattan Beach
