Manhattan Beach Mayor Joe Franklin.

AROUND THE CITY:

** I am enthusiastically endorsing Joe Franklin for the city council. Most of us have witnessed Joe Franklin’s competence, leadership, and integrity as a council member and mayor. He has been a significant stabilizing influence and exhibited the necessary thoroughness of preparation throughout the council’s many deliberations. Joe’s commitment to Manhattan Beach doesn’t stop in council chambers. He truly gives back to the City. We have seen Joe volunteer with MBSAFE and dedicate his mornings to helping identify less fortunate individuals needing housing and services. We have seen Joe volunteer on weekends, doing community service, like when he brought his shovel to help the Boy Scouts restore Sand Dune Park. We have seen Joe contact the Culture Club and help them with fundraising. Joe Franklin is a man of passion and service to our City, inside and outside City Council chambers, and deserves our vote and support. —- Lucia La Rosa Ames (Manhattan Beach)

** A question for the City Council of Manhattan Beach: you desire a 10% sales tax? I wonder, at what point are you willing to say that is too much? 11%, 12%, 15%, 20%?. Here’s a novel idea: why don’t you cut spending? —- Sara Garcia
