4. “Where is the good knife?” If you’re looking for your good X but you have bad Xs – Throw those out.
5. Get a second monitor if your work is done on a computer. Less time navigating between windows means more time for thinking.

Q: WHAT IS THE ORIGINAL STORY OF OATH PIZZA?
A: My business partners, Garish Talwar and Kulwant Jafal, and I have been looking for a franchise to invest in for quite some time. We wanted to invest in a franchise that was both personal and scalable. We discovered Oath Pizza in a QSR Magazine. We reached out, went to try the product, and fell in love with what Oath Pizza had to offer. The atmosphere, executive staff, and pizzas themselves are all excellent. We believe we have the greatest product and an amazing staff to serve the local community. Oath Pizza began in a little beachfront cafe on Nantucket Island out of a desire to create a pizza as feel-good as the island it was named for. And every great pizza must begin with a fantastic crust. Oath developed a recipe by using authentic ingredients, hand-stretching, grilling, and searing in avocado oil. There are now 11 operational Oath Pizza locations, three of which are franchised. Only two restaurants are located in the West, in California and Washington, while the remainder are located on the East Coast.
Q: WHAT MADE YOU OPEN UP IN EL SEGUNDO?
A: El Segundo is a beautiful and welcoming community. So far, we’ve had a fantastic time getting to know the area residents and businesses. The best aspect is that we are only a few minutes away from the beach.
Q: ARE YOU ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY?
A: We strive to be better neighbors in our community. We have contacted a number of local children’s sports leagues. We’ve had several discussions with customers who are both parents and local business owners. We also belong to the El Segundo Chamber of Commerce. Our mission is to give back through helping local schools, community activities, and/or children’s sports teams.
Q: WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT OATH PIZZA?
A: Oath Pizza is unique in that it fills you full without making you feel guilty. We utilize organic meats, hand-cut all of our vegetables, and produce the majority of our sauces and drizzles in-house.

MB WEEKLY – CRIME REPORT IN MANHATTAN BEACH:
According to MBPD reports, on July 9, police tried to pull up to a car traveling incorrectly. The driver pursued officers. After a brief pursuit, it was stopped due to the excessive speed. Later, police officers saw a car accident. The pursuing suspect’s vehicle was one of the ones involved. Without additional incident, the subject was taken into custody. According to MBPD crime statistics, organized retail theft was a target of five major retail chains last week. Targeted twice were two of five retail chains. Also reported stolen last week were five electric bikes. When the thefts occurred, three of these were locked and protected.

We can no longer deny an increasing crime problem in Manhattan Beach. With the recent announcement that L.A. County will adopt sweeping policies to reduce cash bail requirements, most people arrested for misdemeanors and nonviolent felonies will no longer be required to post bail to be released from county jail while they await arraignment. Our community and its leaders need to take action now to ensure that our city has the necessary resources and plans in place and inform the residents what those plans are, and allow for our comment.

Yesterday I read a story about Sand Dune Park and all the new plants placed by the boy scouts dying from lack of watering. I must admit that this bothered me, even though I live on the East Side. What occurred here was some error. In the thread, Steve Napolitano said that the council has responsibility for the Staff and that the council is responsible. Not understanding that “the staff” includes the city manager and department heads, I assumed the council was getting into the weeds; in this case, I would want to hold the manager and directors responsible and wonder why the council would let this occur without taking definitive action. Steve rightly corrected my assumption, but I am still unsatisfied with the response. I was a management consultant in Operating Rooms for over 20 years, and my company would get called in when there were complaints from the department’s “customers,” physicians, or patients or when a “near miss,” significant error, or patient death occurred. Invariably, the reason these things happened was multi-factorial. The causes would include communication issues, flawed processes, and personnel not following documented protocols. I would categorize what occurred at Sand Dune Park as a “near miss.” I would also categorize the recent delays in communication regarding several armed robberies as “near misses.” This leads me to believe that there are multiple problems within City Hall. Are there communication issues between Council and Staff? Is Staff not communicating effectively with line personnel? Are line staff following documented protocols, or are the protocols and processes flawed? I do not pretend to have the answer here, but where there is smoke, there is fire. This should be addressed before it kills the spirit of our community.

Electric Bikes in Stores…. Yesterday at Target in MB, I saw a young man riding his bike inside the store. He was not pushing or pedaling with his feet – he was riding it. A Target employee had to catch up with him to tell him not to do that. With kids running in and out of aisles, someone can easily get hurt. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Our community’s “Crown Jewel” is Downtown Manhattan Beach. It’s so charming, with a great selection of shops and restaurants. The armed robbery of Pasha last year should have been a clarion call for a regular police presence in Downtown Manhattan. As we all know, the presence of a police officer is the most effective way to prevent and deter crime. Previously, MBPD has done “foot beat” patrols in Downtown Manhattan Beach that prevented and inhibited crime. Why not now?
