Q: HAVING BEEN A RABBI FOR A LONG TIME, HOW DO YOU REFLECT ON THE TRAGIC BARBARITY YOU OBSERVED IN ISRAEL ON OCTOBER 7TH?
A: For me personally, as a grandchild of the Holocaust survivor, never in my life I would imagine such brutality and hate. To treat another human being the way they did from young children to senior citizens, Holocaust survivors as well as women and young girls to be raped mutilated and then tortured to death, is unconscionable. There is no place in civilization to have these individuals and groups among us.

Q: ARE YOU OPTIMISTIC THAT, IN THE END, ISRAEL WILL ELIMINATE HAMAS ENTIRELY AND TOTALLY?
A: I strongly feel that [there] is no other choice. Unfortunately, war is a terrible thing and innocent people are killed as well. From our history when the U.S. bombed Japan and Britain destroyed Dresden, it brought the end of World War II and saved millions of people from certain death. Unfortunately, many lives were lost and some innocent, which is heartbreaking. if not for their actions, we would never celebrate the freedom that we have today in United States and the world. The deaths are blamed 100% on the perpetrators, the inhumane individuals that must be eradicated completely.

Q: HOW HAVE YOU REACTED TO WATCHING THE PRESIDENTS OF IVY LEAGUE UNIVERSITIES TESTIFY BEFORE CONGRESS?
A: Unfortunately, it’s not just the presidents, it’s a complete breakdown of these universities. Parents must be aware that when they send their children off to the college/university, they are being brainwashed by these professors. They must be terminated immediately. They are educating and molding our children to hate America, hate the freedom that we celebrate, … and their parents are being untruthful to them.

Q: WHAT CAN GOOD PEOPLE IN THE SOUTH BAY DO TO ASSIST ISRAEL AT THIS CRITICAL TIME?
A: We must continue to spread light. We cannot battle severe darkness with our own hands. We must eliminate it through light. A little bit of light dispels much darkness at its root. Each one of us have the opportunity to become a Lamplighter, inspiring and impacting others in a positive way, through celebrating our religious freedom and celebrating the freedom that our founding fathers instituted, the God-given freedom for each one to live [and] impact the world in a positive way.

Q: BEFORE OCTOBER 7TH, DID YOU HAVE ANY SENSE THAT ANTI-SEMITISM IN BOTH AMERICA AND THE WORLD WAS THIS BAD?
A: Before October 7 it definitely existed but it did not impact or bring fear or anxiety to most. Unfortunately, after October 7 we have become aware of many individuals/leaders and organizations that their masks were taken off and their true identity was revealed.

Manhattan Beach Cut The Ribbon On Renovated Fire Station #2:

Mayor Richard Montgomery, city officials, and Fire Chief Mike Lang cut the ribbon for the re-opening of Manhattan Beach Fire Station No. 2. The city opened Fire Station No. 2, 1400 Manhattan Beach Blvd., with a tour after the ribbon cutting. The city planned to reconstruct the station in 2021 after an architectural analysis 2017 revealed that the 1954 building could have collapsed in an earthquake or other natural calamity. During construction, the station crew operated at No. 1 (15th Street and Valley Drive). The ribbon-cutting event was in November, but firefighters will move into the new building after the holidays.

MB WEEKLY – Crime In Manhattan Beach:

  • In the hours between December 4 and 5, a suspect attempted to burglarize a store in Manhattan Beach after it was locked for the night, police said. When employees returned the following morning, they noticed the door’s lock was damaged. According to police, the door latch mechanism was cut through, but nothing appeared to be tampered with, and nothing was stolen.
  • On December 2, a group of high school boys robbed another minor near the loading docks by Target. According to police, the victim was approached by four to five other boys who demanded he empty his pockets.
  • In the early hours of the morning on December 6 at a bar in the city, five separate people reported their phones were stolen from their pockets or purses without them noticing, MBPD said. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
  • Officers responded to a report of a suspect stealing a case of Dom Perignon on December 6. A Good Samaritan at the store stopped the suspect before he fled the scene, allowing officers to arrest him when they arrived. According to police, it was revealed that the subject had two outstanding warrants after they conducted a records check.

In this summer’s “No Hard Feelings,” Jennifer Lawrence plays Maddie, a Montauk native on the verge of losing her childhood home, who deflowers an introverted nineteen-year-old at his wealthy summer-people parents’ request. She gets a secondhand Buick for “dating” him. The premise could have gone a hundred ways sour, but Lawrence, who appears in practically every scene, excels at comedy. She’s mean, frightening, brave, and charming, whether she’s skinny-dipping, beating up youngsters on the beach, or getting punched in the throat. The movie makes fun of Maddie’s generational gap with her Zoomer quarry, and its biggest joke is when she interrupts a teen home party and finds the kids looking at their phones. She shouts, “Doesn’t anyone f–k anymore?” like a raunchfest relic.

Fisker Reduces December Production Expectations, Plans Delivery Strategy:

Several Fisker Inc. (NYSE: FSR) efforts aim to enhance delivery. The Manhattan Beach, California-based company changed its strategy to expand its real estate presence and speed up U.S. and European deliveries. November 30 saw 123 car deliveries or more. Fisker also built its first Fisker Lounge in New York City’s Meatpacking District and expanded its global delivery network. Fisker used Boxer Property’s real estate for vehicle delivery and logistics. The manufacturer improved ownership and soon offered leasing in Europe and North America. Fisker also talks about selling pollution credits in the U.S. and has a European pooling arrangement.

By now, all Manhattan Beach property owners should have received the ballot to vote on the proposed storm drain fee increase. I strongly urge you to vote YES. My former City Council colleague Russ Lesser also joins me in strongly urging you to vote YES. Storm drains and water run-off are not sexy topics, but they are nonetheless vital. Our storm drains and flood control system are quite old and need replacement and upgrading. The fee is modest for the value we will receive.

A: Our current Los Angeles District Attorney (Gascón) decided not to prosecute “minor crimes.” This decision led to an increase in “minor crimes” in Manhattan Beach and throughout the county. The DA’s “catch and release” philosophy has been a complete disaster for our residents and businesses alike. As a result, the council considered it vital to rewrite our own ordinances that address minor crimes and then enforce them. Criminals that commit “minor crimes” here will soon learn that bad acts have consequences.

Q: WHEN WERE YOU THE MAYOR OF MANHATTAN BEACH?
A: I served three 4-year terms on the MB City Council from 1980 to 1992. During each of those three terms I served a rotation as Mayor.

Q: WHAT WAS THE GREATEST LESSON YOU LEARNED IN SERVING THE CITY?
A: This may seem so self-evident, but I learned that you just simply cannot make everyone happy all of the time. However, without naming names, I have seen some councilmembers try to please everyone. That just doesn’t work. Residents can detect a phony. To be truly successful you must be guided by a set of principles about government and our city and act consistently with your principles.

Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU LIVED IN MANHATTAN BEACH?
A: I started riding waves at the Manhattan Beach Pier in 1964 and moved here in 1968. With the exception of a year tour of duty with the Army in Vietnam, I have lived here ever since including 37 years in my current residence.

Q: IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE GREATEST PROBLEM FACING THE CITY IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?
A: Most of our City Councils have been fiscally responsible. It is a constant challenge to fulfill the high expectations of our residents and still maintain a strong financial position. Along these lines I strongly support the upcoming stormwater tax increase. It is a pretty modest increase to individual property owners, but failure to pass it will stress our City finances. There are always unfunded mandates from the state and federal governments.

Q: WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA?
A: My wife and I love Rock ’N Fish, Mangiamo, Shellback, and Ercole’s for dinner. For breakfast, it’s gotta be Uncle Bill’s!

Q: WHAT IS YOUR ASTROLOGY SIGN?
A: I am not into astrology.

Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME?
A: My two favorite movies are a couple of old classics – Big Wednesday and Where The Buffalo Roam. Big Wednesday absolutely captured the spirit of the South Bay in the early to mid 60’s. Where the Buffalo Roam features an amazing Bill Murray as Hunter S. Thompson. I defy you to watch it and not be constantly smiling and laughing.

Businesses and individuals pay marketers billions to write bogus positive reviews on Google Maps, Amazon, Yelp, and other platforms, deceiving millions of customers annually. As old as the internet, fake reviews are unlawful and forbidden by online sites. Despite this, bogus review firms have grown. For the first time, regulation and tech company efforts are coming together to alter the tide. The Federal Trade Commission proposed a broad rule last summer to punish corporations for purchasing or selling phony reviews, among other prohibitions. Amazon, Expedia, and other online platforms collaborated to fight review fraud in October.

Controversial District Attorney George Gascón’s tenure in Los Angeles County continues to be marred by alarming allegations of political manipulation and questionable ethical conduct. The recent lawsuit by Assistant Head Deputy District Attorney Amy Pentz reveals a deeply troubling pattern of behavior within the Justice System Integrity Division. The accusation that Gascón deliberately withheld a decision not to file charges against a deputy in a use-of-force case to influence the election dynamics is an egregious abuse of power. Pentz’s removal as second-in-command after raising concerns further underscores the toxic environment fostered by Gascón. This alleged manipulation compromises the justice system’s integrity and raises serious questions about Gascón’s commitment to transparency and fair play. Pursuing personal and political agendas at the expense of justice erodes public trust. L.A. County deserves a District Attorney who prioritizes the rule of law over political gamesmanship. Gascón’s actions, as outlined in this lawsuit, undermine the principles his office should uphold. If horrid rising crime due to his radical left-wing policies isn’t enough to upset you, add this to your menu.

Manhattan Beach Shoplifter Pushes Security Officer

The latest Manhattan Beach Police Department crime summary is below:
From Nov. 16-21:

  • 467 service requests
  • 13 arrests
  • 15 traffic collisions

From Nov. 22-29:

  • 707 service requests
  • 20 arrests
  • 13 traffic accidents
  • 46 reported crimes
  • There were 42 criminal reports taken


Notable Events:

** MBPD reported a guy hospitalized following a physical altercation with youngsters. Officers responded to a fight incident at 10:10 pm on November 17. Police said an unknown object hit the man’s automobile as he was driving. The driver challenged a bunch of minors, which led to one boy assaulting him. The boy was arrested for severe bodily injury battery.

** A Manhattan Beach home’s second-story principal bedroom safe was stolen on November 17, according to MBPD. Police say the balcony door was damaged, and the resident found a score driver and a ladder to the balcony.

** An empty Manhattan Beach property was broken into on November 18 by shattering a second-story balcony door. Police said suspects entered through the side gate and stacked patio furniture to reach the second story. Police reported house jewelry theft.

** Manhattan Beach police apprehended a guy for a house burglary in Hermosa Beach on November 19. A Manhattan Beach Police Department officer saw a car fleeing a burglary about 8:30 am. Police say the suspect crashed into a residential neighborhood after a short pursuit.

** On November 27, Manhattan Beach police arrested a guy and his passenger for vehicle theft. MBPD said the driver was unlicensed and presented a phony name during a traffic check. Authorities claimed the man rolled up his window and tried to drive away when an officer requested him to get out. The driver was forcibly restrained and the car was switched off. After investigating, detectives found the car was stolen from another city and arrested the driver for possession of a stolen vehicle and other counts.

** Police investigated a Macy’s robbery on November 29. Witnesses said the suspect assaulted a security officer as he departed the business. The guy fled into a nearby neighborhood when officers found him at 8th Street and Sepulveda Boulevard. The man was apprehended for robbery and other counts after officers set up a perimeter and utilized a Los Angeles Police Department chopper.
